Armour Stone Applications
Armour stone has many applications in Ottawa landscaping.
Retaining Walls:
Retaining walls are useful for creating terraces, or dealing with grading/slope issues. Most projects we work on use interlock however for larger retaining walls over 4 ft nothing is as impressive a limestone or granite armour stone.
Steps:
Armour stones can be used as the surface of steps built into a slop or retaining wall. The sheer size gives a large area to step and its width allows for people to walk in tandem. Armour stone steps work great in designs that have a slow rise since the landings on these designs are larger than steeper inclines.
Decorative or Functional Borders:
Outline the perimeter of your property with large decorative armour stones. They look amazing and provide enhanced security in rural areas by restricting access to your property from the driveway.
Accent Boulders:
Most yards in Ottawa aren’t large enough to include a full armour stone retaining wall or decorative border but that doesn’t mean you can’t include these giant rocks in your yard. A single boulder can be included in your design as a focal point of your garden or as a place to sit and enjoy your yard.
